Meralco is the largest private sector electric distribution utility company in the Philippines covering 39 cities and 72 municipalities. Its franchise area of over 9,685 km2 is just 3% of the total land area of the Philippines, but accounts for 55% of the country’s electricity output. Meralco is headquartered in Pasig City, Philippines.

The company’s main service is the provision of reliable and affordable electric power to its customers. It primarily engages in the distribution and retail supply of electricity. Meralco’s major services include power generation, distribution, and retail electricity supply. It serves residential, commercial, and industrial customers across various sectors, providing energy solutions tailored to their needs.

Through several subsidiaries in the services segment, Meralco provides engineering, design, construction and consulting services, bill collection services, distribution and energy management services, and communications, information systems and technology services. Meralco through wholly-owned subsidiary, Meralco PowerGen Corporation (MGen) is developing a portfolio of power generation plants. It also has a minority equity interest in power generating company Global Business Power Corporation (GBPC).

Meralco is listed in the Philippine Stock Exchange (PSE: MER). The company boasts a coverage rate of more than 97 percent, the highest in the country. Each year, Meralco sells more than 23 million megawatt-hours (MWH), with residential and commercial sales each contributing roughly 35 percent, and industrial sales adding 30 percent.
