PHINMA Education is growing its network of schools by adding Southeastern College in Pasay City to its group. This means more students in Metro Manila will have access to affordable college education that helps them actually finish their degrees.
What’s Happening?
According to a disclosure filed with the Securities and Exchange Commission on March 13, 2026, PHINMA Corporation (the parent company of PHINMA Education) announced the acquisition of Southeastern College. This is the 12th school that PHINMA Education will operate in the Philippines and the 14th in their entire network across Southeast Asia.
Why Is This Important?
Think of it this way: imagine if finishing school was like completing a difficult video game level. Many students want to reach the end, but sometimes they don’t have the right tools, support, or resources to make it. PHINMA Education tries to give students those tools so more of them can actually graduate.
Happy Tan, who leads PHINMA Education in the Philippines, explained that their goal isn’t just to open more schools. Instead, they want to help Filipino students—especially those who are the first in their families to go to college—actually complete their education and get better job opportunities afterward.
About Southeastern College
Southeastern College has been around since 1946, making it a school with almost 80 years of history. Now that it’s joining PHINMA Education, it will become part of the PHINMA Saint Jude College network in Metro Manila, alongside campuses in Manila and Quezon City.
The Pasay location will help PHINMA Education serve about 80,000 students in southern Metro Manila and nearby areas like Laguna and Cavite.
What Makes PHINMA Education Different?
PHINMA Education uses a special approach to help students succeed. They focus on three main things:
- Good teaching methods that actually work
- Programs that prepare students for real jobs
- Personal support and coaching to help students stay in school
Tan emphasized that their mission is “reducing poverty through education.” The schools welcome students who may have dropped out before and let them complete their education at their own pace. Their promise to students is simple: “sasamahan kita” (we’ll walk with you).
