PHINMA Hospitality Starts Building New TRYP Hotel in Bacolod's Saludad Township

PHINMA Hospitality, the hotel business arm of PHINMA Corporation, has officially started construction of a new hotel called TRYP by Wyndham Bacolod. According to a press release filed with the Securities and Exchange Commission on March 9, 2026, the groundbreaking ceremony happened on March 4, 2026, at the Saludad township developed by PHINMA Properties.

What is TRYP by Wyndham?

Think of TRYP by Wyndham as a special kind of hotel that tries to capture the local flavor and personality of the city it’s in. It’s like staying in a hotel that feels like it truly belongs to that place, not just a generic building that could be anywhere. This will be PHINMA Hospitality’s third TRYP hotel in the Philippines.

Why Bacolod?

Bacolod City is known as the “City of Smiles” and is famous for its MassKara Festival, delicious food, and sugar industry. The new TRYP hotel is designed to celebrate these unique features of Bacolod. According to PHINMA Hospitality Chairman and CEO Jose Mari del Rosario, “The goal is not just to build another hotel in Bacolod, but to build a hotel that feels unmistakably Bacolod.”

The hotel will feature special design elements inspired by the city, including deep violet colors and textures reflecting the MassKara Festival’s colorful masks, and lighting fixtures that look like caramelized sugar cane – a nod to Bacolod’s sugar industry heritage.

What is Saludad?

Saludad is a 21-hectare (about 21 football fields) township – which is like a mini-city with homes, shops, hotels, schools, and parks all in one planned area. It’s located along the Bacolod-Silay Airport Access Road in Barangay Bata, Bacolod City.

PHINMA Properties President and CEO Raphael B. Felix explained that the new TRYP hotel “significantly elevates Saludad’s profile” and helps them better serve the community while showcasing what makes the area distinctly Bacolod.

What Else is Coming to Saludad?

Besides the TRYP hotel, Saludad will also have:

  • The first Southwestern University PHINMA campus outside of Cebu City
  • Residential developments called Maayo Terraces and Likha Residences
  • Community housing projects

PHINMA’s Partnership for This Project

PHINMA Hospitality is working with JEPP Property Corp. as a joint venture partner specifically for this TRYP Bacolod hotel. The groundbreaking ceremony was attended by executives from both companies, along with Bacolod City Mayor Greg Gasataya.
