Maynilad Water Services, Inc. (Maynilad) is the water and wastewater services provider for the 17 cities and municipalities that comprise the West Zone of the Greater Metro Manila area. It is the largest water concessionaire in terms of customer base in the Philippines.

Maynilad was formed in 1997, after the consortium of Benpres Holdings Corporation and Suez Lyonnaise de Eaux won the exclusive right to provide water and wastewater services in the West Zone of Metropolitan Manila. Republic Act (RA) No. 11600—which grants Maynilad a 25-year franchise to establish, operate and maintain a waterworks system and sewerage and sanitation services in the West Zone service area of Metro Manila and the province of Cavite—was signed into law on December 10, 2021.

Since re-privatization in 2007, Maynilad has spent over P100 Billion in capital expenditure projects to improve and expand its water and wastewater operations. As a result, more than 9.7 million people in the West Zone of the Greater Manila Area are now enjoying safe and reliable water supply, as well as enhanced sewerage and sanitation services.

Maynilad provides customers with piped-in water supply that meets the Philippine National Standards for Drinking Water of the Department of Health, which means the water is safe and fit for drinking, bathing, cooking, and other household activities. The company maintains and operates eight technologically advanced water treatment plants, including La Mesa Treatment Plant 1 with a design capacity of 1,500 million liters per day, La Mesa Treatment Plant 2 with 900 MLD capacity, and Putatan Water Treatment Plant (PWTP) 1, the largest membrane-based water treatment plant in the Philippines.

Maynilad maintains and operates some 7,287 kilometers of primary, secondary and tertiary pipelines, along with 39 pumping stations, 39 water reservoirs and 35 in-line boosters across its service area, with reservoirs having a total holding capacity of over 751.5 million liters of potable water. The Maynilad water distribution system stretches from North Caloocan to Cavite Province and delivers over 2,710 million liters of potable water per day to over 1,532,000 million customers.

Residents and establishments in Tondo, Paco, Sampaloc, Dagupan, Sta. Cruz, Tondo Foreshore, and Legarda in Manila, Malabon, Navotas, Caloocan, Projects 7 and 8 in Quezon City, Magallanes Village in Makati, and parts of Muntinlupa may connect to Maynilad’s sewerage system. Residential and semi-business customers in areas not covered by the sewerage network may maintain their own septic tanks and avail of septic tank cleaning service at no extra charge every five to seven years.

Maynilad is the leading water solutions company in the Philippines with a strong presence across Asia, providing safe, affordable and sustainable water solutions that enable those served to lead healthier, more comfortable lives.
