DigiPlus Earns ₱2.8 Billion in First Quarter 2026 Despite Challenges from E-Wallet Changes

DigiPlus Interactive Corp., the company behind popular gaming platforms BingoPlus, ArenaPlus, and GameZone, reported that it made ₱2.8 billion in profit during the first three months of 2026, according to their earnings release dated May 5, 2026.

To help understand this: imagine a big lemonade stand that usually makes a lot of money. This time, they made less money than before, but still earned billions of pesos – which is still a huge amount!

Why Did Earnings Go Down?

The company’s profit went down by 33 percent compared to the same time last year. Think of it like getting 33 fewer candies out of every 100 candies you usually get. According to the company, two main things caused this:

  • E-wallet changes: Digital wallets (like mobile money apps) were disconnected from gaming platforms, making it harder for people to add money to play games
  • Global fuel crisis: Because gas and fuel prices are high around the world, people have less extra money to spend on entertainment

Understanding the Numbers

DigiPlus reported total revenues (all the money coming in) of ₱17.2 billion for the quarter, which was 25 percent lower than the same period last year. Their EBITDA (a measure of how much money the business makes before certain expenses) dropped 42 percent to ₱2.6 billion.

However, when comparing to just the previous quarter (October to December 2025), things looked a bit better. Revenue only dropped slightly from ₱17.3 billion, and net income actually increased by 15 percent. The company explained this increase came partly from gains on their investment in International Entertainment Corporation’s convertible bonds.

Company Chairman Eusebio H. Tanco explained that while the e-wallet disconnection affected how many people used their platforms and made transactions, the company’s core business remains strong.

DigiPlus Pays Lots of Taxes

The company paid ₱5.4 billion in taxes and fees to the government during the first quarter. This is like when you buy something at a store and pay extra tax – but on a much, much bigger scale! The company says it wants to help the government provide services and support the country’s economy.

Strong Financial Position

As of the end of March 2026, DigiPlus maintained a healthy financial position. The company had ₱20.5 billion in cash and cash equivalents (money they can use right away), while only owing ₱745.8 million in debt. Their debt-to-equity ratio was just 0.02, which means they owe very little compared to what they own – that’s considered very healthy for a company.

The company had recently paid about ₱6.0 billion as the first payment for convertible bonds from International Entertainment Corporation, but their cash position recovered through regular business operations.

Big Partnership with NBA

In exciting news announced on April 11, ArenaPlus (DigiPlus’s sports betting platform) became the first-ever official betting partner of the NBA (National Basketball Association) in the Philippines. This is a big deal because Filipinos love basketball! The announcement event featured NBA legend Derrick Rose, who is an ambassador for ArenaPlus.

Teaming Up with Manny Pacquiao

On March 25, DigiPlus announced an exclusive partnership with boxing legend and former Senator Manny Pacquiao. The partnership includes:

  • Nine special games featuring Pacquiao’s brand
  • Pacquiao serving as a brand ambassador for GameZone and ArenaPlus
  • Integration of MannyPay, a payment system for secure transactions across all DigiPlus platforms

Growth Recognition

Despite the recent slowdown, DigiPlus was recognized as the fastest-growing company in the Philippines by research firm Statista in their Philippines Growth Champions 2026 list. The company achieved a compound annual growth rate (CAGR) of 199.29 percent from 2021 to 2024 – meaning it grew almost 200 percent each year during that period! DigiPlus also ranked 12th among 500 companies in Statista’s High-Growth Companies Asia-Pacific 2026 rankings.

Helping Communities Through DigiPlus Foundation

DigiPlus Foundation, the company’s charity arm, has helped nearly 1 million Filipinos through programs focused on education, healthcare, and community support. In 2025 alone, the foundation spent ₱84.3 million on social programs.

During the first quarter of 2026, the foundation:

  • Conducted medical missions in Metro Manila and Northern Luzon
  • Provided Mental Health First Responder training to community workers
  • Opened a new PLUS Center on Ticao Island in Masbate, providing computers and equipment for nearly 3,000 students
  • Welcomed 17 new scholars under the government’s 4Ps program
  • Gave grants to over 200 individuals through the WishPlus program
