BNP Paribas, one of the world’s largest banks from France, is opening its Philippine office inside Uptown Bonifacio, a business area built by Megaworld Corporation (PSE: MEG). This announcement was made by Megaworld through a disclosure to the Securities and Exchange Commission on October 19, 2026.
What is BNP Paribas?
Think of BNP Paribas as a giant piggy bank – but much, much bigger! It’s based in Paris, France, and is Europe’s largest bank. According to the disclosure, BNP Paribas ranks number 58 on the 2026 Fortune Global 500 list (a list of the world’s biggest companies) and is the 7th largest bank in the entire world. The bank manages over USD 3.2 trillion in assets – that’s money and properties – and has more than 180,000 employees working in 64 countries around the world.
Where Will BNP Paribas Set Up in the Philippines?
The bank’s Philippine operations, called “BNP Paribas Solutions Philippines,” will be located in Uptown Eastgate, an office building in Uptown Bonifacio, Taguig City. According to Megaworld, Uptown Eastgate is currently the biggest office tower in the entire Bonifacio Global City (BGC) area in terms of space available for rent.
The building is 31 floors tall and has a LEED Gold certification, which means it’s designed to be environment-friendly. It offers about 100,000 square meters of office space – imagine about 14 football fields worth of office rooms!
What Will BNP Paribas Do Here?
The Philippine office will work as a “strategic delivery center,” which means it will help support BNP Paribas’ banking operations around the world, specifically for their Corporate and Institutional Banking business (banking services for big companies and organizations).
Who Else Works in Uptown Bonifacio?
BNP Paribas is joining other famous global companies that already have offices in Uptown Bonifacio, including:
- JPMorganChase – which uses two entire office buildings covering about 140,000 square meters
- Tesla
- Coca-Cola
- Reckitt Mead Johnson
According to the disclosure, Uptown Bonifacio currently has more than 30 major companies with over 60,000 employees working across seven office towers.
About Megaworld Corporation
Megaworld Corporation (PSE: MEG) is the property developer that built and owns Uptown Bonifacio. The company is the largest office developer and landlord in the BGC area. According to the disclosure, Megaworld has nearly 900,000 square meters of office space in BGC alone – that’s more than half of its total 1.7-million square meter office portfolio across the entire Philippines.
Megaworld’s Recent Business Performance
According to the company disclosure, Megaworld’s office leasing business has been doing well in 2026. During the first nine months of 2026, the company closed around 200,000 square meters of office lease deals, showing strong demand for office spaces in Metro Manila and other provinces.
Francis Roxas, head of Megaworld Global Offices, explained that BNP Paribas choosing Uptown Bonifacio shows how global companies trust the township as a good location for their operations because it provides access to talented workers, good transportation connections, and facilities that help employees work better and feel comfortable.
This information comes from Megaworld Corporation’s official disclosure to the Securities and Exchange Commission dated October 19, 2026.
