DoubleDragon Corporation announced that Hotel101-Davao will officially open its doors on July 30, 2026, becoming the biggest hotel in the entire Mindanao region with 519 rooms.
What Makes Hotel101-Davao Special?
Think of Hotel101-Davao as a giant building where travelers can stay, kind of like a really big house with hundreds of bedrooms. This particular hotel will be the largest in all of Mindanao, which is one of the three main island groups in the Philippines.
The hotel sits on a 5,384 square meter property along Eco West Drive in Davao City. To give you an idea of how convenient the location is, it’s just about a 1-minute walk to SM City Ecoland Davao—that’s closer than walking from your classroom to the school playground!
What’s Inside the Hotel?
Hotel101-Davao will feature several facilities for guests:
- An all-day dining kitchen called HBNB kitchen (operated by a concessionaire)
- A fitness gym for exercise
- A full-size swimming pool
- Function and conference rooms for meetings and events
- A helipad (a landing spot for helicopters)
About DoubleDragon and Hotel101
According to the press release from DoubleDragon Corporation, the company is building hotels not just in the Philippines but around the world. Their big dream is called “Vision of 1 million uniform Hotel101 rooms in 100 Countries.”
Think of it like this: imagine if your favorite toy store had the exact same layout and toys in every city around the world—that’s what DoubleDragon wants to do with Hotel101 hotels, so guests always know what to expect no matter which country they’re in.
How is Hotel101 Doing in Other Places?
DoubleDragon shared that their other Hotel101 properties are doing well:
- Hotel101-Manila (518 rooms) and Hotel101-Fort (606 rooms) in the Philippines continue to have very high occupancy—meaning most of their rooms are filled with guests most of the time
- Hotel101-Madrid in Spain opened in March 2026 with 680 rooms and recently achieved 100% occupancy (all rooms fully booked) in a single day, earning more than €100,000 Euros
Hotel101-Madrid is particularly significant because it’s the first Hotel101 hotel to operate outside the Philippines, marking the company’s international expansion.
Big Expansion Plans for 2026
According to DoubleDragon, 2026 will be their busiest year for hotel openings, with a total of 2,229 new hotel rooms opening across different locations:
- 680 rooms in Madrid, Spain (already opened in March 2026)
- 519 rooms in Davao (opening July 30, 2026)
- 548 rooms in Cebu
- 482 rooms in Niseko, Hokkaido, Japan (scheduled for December 2026)
The company explained that 2026 is when they expect to start generating larger amounts of recurring revenues—that’s money that comes in regularly, like an allowance you get every week, but for businesses. These revenues will come from their malls, warehouses, offices, and hotels both in the Philippines and overseas.
About DoubleDragon’s Business Model
DoubleDragon uses what they call an “asset-light” and “HBNB business model.” In simple terms, instead of the company owning every single hotel room themselves, they license (or rent out) their Hotel101 brand and business system to others. This creates what the company calls “long-term recurring revenue stream”—money that keeps coming in over time.
The company noted that Hotel101 made history in 2025 as the first Filipino company with a subsidiary listed on the U.S. Nasdaq stock exchange, and in 2026 became the first Filipino hotel chain brand to operate overseas.
