Megawide's Profit Grows 24% to P669 Million in 2025: What This Means for the Construction Company

Megawide Construction Corp., one of the Philippines’ major builders and infrastructure companies, announced that its net income (the money left after paying all expenses) grew by 24% to reach P669 million for the full year 2025. Think of net income like your allowance after buying everything you need – it’s what’s left over as profit.

The company shared this news on May 8, 2026, and the results matched what they earlier predicted, which was between P600 million to P700 million in profit for the year.

What Does Megawide Actually Do?

Megawide builds big projects like airports, bus terminals, schools, and housing for Filipinos. The company has been publicly listed on the Philippine Stock Exchange since 2011, which means regular people can buy shares and own a small piece of the company.

Breaking Down the Numbers

According to Edgar Saavedra, Megawide’s Chairman and CEO, the results are on track with their plans, though he mentioned concerns about a Middle East crisis that could affect their business. Despite this, the company is focusing on essential projects like housing, transportation, and social infrastructure – things people always need regardless of economic conditions.

Here’s what happened with their different businesses:

Total Revenue (Money Coming In)

Megawide’s total revenues were P17.7 billion. While this is lower than before, the company explained this is because their construction projects are in a “winding down phase” – meaning some big projects are finishing up. Construction still brought in the most money at P14.7 billion.

Property Development (Building Homes and Buildings)

Their property development business, run through a company called PH1 World Developers, Inc., grew impressively by 230% to P2.35 billion. This growth happened because their ongoing building projects are making steady progress.

Transport Terminals

The Parañaque Integrated Terminal Exchange (PITX), a major bus terminal, contributed P518 million in revenue. Most of this came from leasing commercial spaces (renting out shops and stores). The terminal serves an average of 184,000 people daily as of end-December 2025 – that’s like filling up several large stadiums every single day!

Profit Margins (How Much They Keep)

The company’s gross profit (money left after direct costs) rose 23% to P3.89 billion. More importantly, their profit margin improved to 22% from 14% the previous year. This means Megawide is becoming more efficient at managing costs – like getting better at stretching your allowance further.

Breaking it down by business segment:

  • Construction: Made P2.92 billion with a 20% margin (up from 13% in 2024)
  • Real estate: Made P691 million with a 29% margin
  • Landport (terminals): Made P230 million

Future Projects in the Pipeline

Megawide has a “replenished order book” of P50 billion at the end of 2025. Think of an order book like a list of confirmed jobs they’ll work on – worth P50 billion in total. These projects are expected to take 2-3 years to complete, and revenues should start increasing by the second half of this year.

Housing Projects

The company is building around 7,100 socialized housing units (affordable homes for lower-income families) under the government’s expanded 4PH program. They plan to build 100,000 units over the next five years.

Transportation Projects

Megawide is also developing several transportation hubs including:

  • Baguio City Integrated Terminal
  • South Luzon Integrated Terminal Exchange
  • Cavite Bus Rapid Transit System

Company’s Financial Health

Jez dela Cruz, Megawide’s Group CFO (Chief Financial Officer – the person in charge of money), explained that the company is working on reducing its debt. Their debt-to-equity ratio improved from 2.08x at end-December 2024 to 1.54x at end-December 2025. In simple terms, this means they owe less money compared to what they own, which is healthier for the business.

By end-March 2026, they paid down about P5.0 billion worth of short-term loans, further improving their financial position.

Chairman’s Outlook

Saavedra acknowledged that while there are global challenges like ongoing geopolitical issues, the company has backup plans to handle short-term disruptions. He expressed hope that if global conflicts resolve favorably, their profit targets for the year will be achievable.

Megawide has been a partner of the Philippine Government for major projects including school buildings, the Mactan-Cebu International Airport, the Parañaque Integrated Terminal Exchange, and the Clark International Airport construction.
