Megaworld Corporation, one of the biggest property developers in the Philippines, has announced plans to start building several new shopping malls across different provinces. According to a disclosure filed with the Securities and Exchange Commission on February 19, 2026, the company will construct lifestyle malls in Pampanga, Bulacan, Cavite, and Bacolod starting this year through 2027.
What’s Megaworld Building?
Think of Megaworld like a company that builds mini-cities called “townships” – these are areas with homes, offices, hotels, and shopping malls all in one place. Now, they’re adding more malls to these townships to make them even better places to live and shop.
The company, through its mall division called Megaworld Lifestyle Malls, will spend around 10 billion pesos to build these new projects. These new malls will add more than 150,000 square meters of space – that’s bigger than 20 football fields combined!
Where Are These New Malls?
Here are the new malls Megaworld is planning to build:
- Capital Mall – A four-story mall in San Fernando, Pampanga, designed to honor the area’s sugar company heritage
- Northwin Global Concourse – A two-level shopping complex in Marilao and Bocaue, Bulacan, which will connect directly to a new train station (Northwin Station of the North-South Commuter Railway)
- Maple Grove Mall – A two-story mall in General Trias, Cavite, with a modern classical design
- The Upper East Mall – A three-story mall in Bacolod City inspired by New York’s Upper East Side, featuring a 100-year-old Balete tree as its centerpiece
Additionally, Megaworld is expanding its existing Festive Walk Mall in Iloilo by building a new two-level section that will house a Landers Superstore.
Why Is Megaworld Building More Malls?
According to Graham Coates, the head of Megaworld Lifestyle Malls, people are spending more money on shopping and dining, especially in areas where the company’s townships are located. This gives them confidence to build more commercial spaces and offer better lifestyle options to their customers.
Part of a Bigger Plan
These new malls are part of Megaworld’s massive 65-billion peso spending plan for 2026. This money will go toward expanding not just malls, but also homes, offices, and hotels across their properties in Metro Manila and various provinces including Bacolod, Iloilo, Pampanga, Cavite, and Palawan.
The company has a big goal: to reach one million square meters of mall space by 2030. Right now, they have over 500,000 square meters – so they’re already halfway there!
Recent Mall Openings
Megaworld has been busy building malls. In 2025 alone, they opened four new shopping areas:
- The Shoppes at Park McKinley West in Taguig
- New retail spaces at Vion Tower in Makati
- Expanded shopping areas in Alabang West, Las Piñas
- Newcoast Beachwalk in Boracay, Aklan
