Think of an “estero” or creek like a small river that runs through neighborhoods. Sometimes these get dirty with trash and other waste. Vitarich has been helping clean up one of these creeks called Sapang Alat Creek (also known as Patubig Creek) in Marilao, Bulacan since before 2013.

- Bamboo planting – Starting in 2024, they planted bamboo trees along the creek banks. This helps keep the soil from washing away and makes the water cleaner

The Sagip Kalikasan Project

- The Municipality of Marilao

- Planted bamboo along about 100 meters of the creek (that’s roughly the length of a football field)
- Taught more than 100 students from three nearby neighborhoods about protecting nature
- Held three bamboo planting activities to improve water quality and protect the creek banks
- Started monitoring the creek’s water and soil quality to see how things improve over time
