Vitarich Corporation Receives DENR Award for Creek Cleanup and Environmental Work in Bulacan

Vitarich Corporation, a company that makes chicken products and animal feeds (trading under the stock symbol VITA on the Philippine Stock Exchange), recently received an award from the government for helping keep rivers clean in Bulacan.

According to a disclosure filed with the Securities and Exchange Commission on June 15, 2026, the Department of Environment and Natural Resources – Environmental Management Bureau Region III (DENR-EMB Region III) recognized the company during a ceremony held in Clark, Pampanga.

What Did Vitarich Do to Get This Award?

Think of an “estero” or creek like a small river that runs through neighborhoods. Sometimes these get dirty with trash and other waste. Vitarich has been helping clean up one of these creeks called Sapang Alat Creek (also known as Patubig Creek) in Marilao, Bulacan since before 2013.

Here’s what the company has been doing:

  • Regular cleanup drives – They organize activities to pick up trash and clean the creek
  • Bamboo planting – Starting in 2024, they planted bamboo trees along the creek banks. This helps keep the soil from washing away and makes the water cleaner
  • Education programs – They teach people in the community, especially students, about taking care of the environment
  • Research work – They study the water and soil quality to track improvements

The Sagip Kalikasan Project

In 2024, Vitarich launched a bigger program called the “Sagip Kalikasan Project” (which means “Save Nature Project” in English). This project is led by the company’s Chief Sustainability Officer, Ms. Stephanie Nicole Sarmiento Garcia.

The project works together with:

  • Bulacan State University (BulSU) – Meneses Campus
  • The Municipality of Marilao
  • Local neighborhoods (barangays) near the creek

What Have They Accomplished?

According to the press release, Vitarich and its partners have achieved:

  • Planted bamboo along about 100 meters of the creek (that’s roughly the length of a football field)
  • Taught more than 100 students from three nearby neighborhoods about protecting nature
  • Held three bamboo planting activities to improve water quality and protect the creek banks
  • Started monitoring the creek’s water and soil quality to see how things improve over time
