Megawide Plans to Give Special Dividends to Shareholders Before Year Ends

Megawide Construction Corp., a major Philippine construction company, announced during its shareholder meeting on July 8, 2026, that it might give out special dividends (extra cash rewards to people who own company shares) before the end of this year.

Think of dividends like this: When you own shares in a company, you’re like a part-owner. When the company does well and makes money, it sometimes shares that money with its owners. That’s what a dividend is – it’s like getting an allowance for being a shareholder.

What Did the Company Say?

According to the press release, Edgar Saavedra, who is the Chairman and CEO (the top boss) of Megawide, told shareholders that the company is confident about reaching its goals. He said this would give them the ability to pay out another round of dividends before 2026 ends.

Recent Dividend Payment

Megawide already announced a dividend payment on June 23, 2026. Here’s what that means in simple terms:

  • They will pay Php0.145 for every share someone owns
  • The payment will happen on August 7, 2026
  • Only people who owned shares by July 23, 2026 will receive this payment
  • This represents about a 3.6% yield, which is close to the Philippine Stock Exchange average of 3.8%

Future Plans: Regular Dividends

The company also hinted that it wants to pay dividends regularly, not just once in a while. Mr. Saavedra explained that starting next year, they plan to have a more consistent dividend payout policy. This means shareholders could expect to receive money from the company on a regular schedule, similar to how you might get a weekly allowance.

The New 4-D Strategy

Megawide is upgrading its business strategy from “3-D” to “4-D,” which includes:

  • Deliver – finishing projects successfully
  • De-lever – reducing the money they owe (debts)
  • Decarbonize – becoming more environmentally friendly
  • Dividend – sharing profits with shareholders

Reducing Company Debt

The press release explains that Megawide has been working hard to pay off what it owes. As of June 2026, the company paid about Php7.0 billion of its short-term debts since the beginning of the year. This is good news because paying off debt means the company will save at least Php400 million every year in interest costs (the extra money you have to pay when you borrow).

Additionally, Megawide sold its shares in another company called Citicore Renewable Energy Corp., which gave them about Php4.5 billion. This money will be used to expand their pre-cast facilities (where they make building parts) and to pay off more debts.
