Century Pacific Food Promises to Plant Another 1 Million Coconut Trees to Help Filipino Farmers

Century Pacific Food Promises to Plant Another 1 Million Coconut Trees to Help Filipino Farmers

Century Pacific Food, Inc. (PSE: CNPF), the company behind popular food brands like Century Tuna and Argentina, has announced a big promise to help coconut farmers in the Philippines. Through their coconut cream brand called Coco Mama, they’re pledging to give away one million coconut seedlings (baby coconut trees) to small farmers over the next five years.

Why Are They Doing This?

Think of coconut trees like old workers who get tired – about 20% of coconut trees in the Philippines are already too old, which means they don’t produce as many coconuts anymore. This is a problem for farmers who depend on selling coconuts to make money and take care of their families.

Bryan Lingan, who manages Coco Mama for CNPF, explained that coconut farmers are among the poorest in the country and don’t have enough money to buy new trees. By giving them one million quality seedlings for free, CNPF hopes to help these farming communities earn better while also making sure there are enough coconuts for their business in the future.

This Isn’t Their First Time

This is actually the second million trees that CNPF has promised to plant. Back in 2022, they already donated and planted one million coconut seedlings together with GCash and an organization called HOPE. Now in 2026, they’re doing it again through their Coco Mama brand’s “Save Our Coconuts” program.

CNPF is working again with HOPE, a group that helps communities. But this time, they’re not just giving trees – they’re also teaching farmers better farming methods and helping them find buyers for their coconuts.

Teaming Up for Two Million Trees

CNPF found a partner in Vita Coco, a famous coconut water company that buys coconut products from CNPF for export. Vita Coco has also promised to give one million seedlings in the Philippines. Together, the two companies will donate a total of two million coconut seedlings across the country.

Vita Coco’s program is part of their bigger goal to plant 10 million coconut trees around the world by 2030. John Tran from Vita Coco said they’re happy to work with CNPF and HOPE because they all share the same goal of helping coconut trees and farming families.

The Planting Has Already Started

To kick off this new promise, Coco Mama held a tree planting ceremony on World Coconut Day (September 2) in General Santos City. Farmers from the area, along with representatives from HOPE, Vita Coco, the Philippine Coconut Authority, and even celebrity Judy Ann Santos-Agoncillo, attended the special event.

About Coco Mama and CNPF

Coco Mama is CNPF’s packaged coconut cream brand that started in 2019. Even though it’s relatively new, it has grown to become the leading coconut cream brand in the Philippines.

Century Pacific Food, Inc. is one of the biggest food and beverage companies in the Philippines, making and selling products for over 40 years. Besides Coco Mama, they own well-known brands like Century Tuna, Argentina, 555, Ligo, and Birch Tree. The company also exports tuna and coconut products to other countries as a private label supplier.

According to the disclosure filed with the Philippine Stock Exchange on October 20, 2026, this initiative is being implemented in partnership with HOPE, with the seedlings aimed at replacing aging trees and boosting farm productivity while ensuring sustainable coconut supply for their business operations.
