Megaworld Opens Third Hotel in Iloilo Business Park with 405 Rooms

Megaworld Corporation, a major property developer in the Philippines, announced on April 16, 2026, the opening of Belmont Hotel Iloilo, according to their filing with the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC).

This is Megaworld’s third hotel inside the Iloilo Business Park, a large 72-hectare township (that’s about 100 football fields!) in Iloilo City.

What is Megaworld Corporation?

Megaworld Corporation (stock symbol: MEG) is one of the Philippines’ largest real estate companies. They build residential condominiums, office buildings, shopping malls, and hotels across the country. The company is listed on the Philippine Stock Exchange with 32.4 billion common shares and 6 billion preferred shares outstanding, as stated in their regulatory filing.

About the New Hotel

Belmont Hotel Iloilo is a 12-story building with 405 hotel rooms. Think of it like a tall apartment building, but instead of people living there permanently, travelers stay for short periods.

The hotel offers different types of rooms:

  • One-Bedroom Suite – 48 square meters (the biggest)
  • Premiere Room – 30 square meters
  • Twin Room – 24 square meters (has two beds)
  • Queen Room – 24 square meters (has one big bed)
  • Specially-Abled Rooms – 30 square meters (designed for guests who use wheelchairs or have mobility challenges)
  • Themed Kids Rooms – 48 square meters (special playful rooms for families with children, the first of its kind in Iloilo)

Special Features of the Hotel

According to the press release, Belmont Hotel Iloilo has several unique offerings that make it special:

Art and Culture: Each room displays artwork from local Iloilo artists, showing famous landmarks with a 1950s vintage style. This helps guests experience Iloilo’s culture while staying at the hotel.

Mini-Art Gallery: The hotel has a small art gallery on the second floor – another first for Iloilo. This gallery will rotate different artworks from famous local artists.

Event Spaces: There’s a large ballroom that can fit 310 people if arranged like a theater, or 300 people for a banquet dinner. This big room can also be divided into four smaller rooms for more intimate gatherings. The hotel also has meeting rooms for business events.

Recreation Facilities: On the third floor, guests can enjoy a swimming pool, a kiddie pool for children, a pool lounge, saunas in the changing rooms, a fitness center, and private spa rooms.

Dining Options: The hotel has three food and beverage outlets – Belmont Café (an all-day restaurant serving modern Ilonggo food for up to 120 guests), Zabana Bar at the lobby, and Float Bar and Grill by the pool.

Megaworld’s Growing Hotel Business in Iloilo

With this new hotel opening, Megaworld now has almost 900 hotel rooms (880 to be exact) in Iloilo Business Park. This represents nearly 25% of all hotel rooms available in the entire city of Iloilo.

The company’s other two hotels in the same business park are:

  • Richmonde Hotel Iloilo – 149 rooms
  • Courtyard by Marriott Iloilo – 326 rooms

Cleofe Albiso, managing director of Megaworld Hotels & Resorts, explained that the new hotel marks an important step in boosting tourism in the Visayas region. The hotel will be managed and operated by Megaworld Hotels & Resorts, the company’s hospitality division.

Design Inspiration

The building’s design was inspired by the Miami Art Deco district in Florida, USA, which is known for its colorful, vintage style from the early 1900s. Inside, the lobby features bright colors and a festive theme that mixes Iloilo’s culture with Mid-Century modern design – a popular style from the 1950s and 1960s.

What’s Around the Hotel

Guests staying at Belmont Hotel Iloilo can visit several attractions within Iloilo Business Park, including three museums: the Iloilo Museum of Contemporary Art (ILOMOCA) – the first contemporary art museum in Visayas and Mindanao, the Brandy Museum, and Science XPdition. There are also shopping and dining destinations like Festive Walk Mall and Festive Walk Parade, plus Iloilo City’s first Wolfgang’s Steakhouse restaurant.

Megaworld’s Bigger Hotel Portfolio

According to the announcement, Megaworld Hotels & Resorts currently operates 16 hotels across the Philippines with about 7,500 rooms in total. These hotels are located in Metro Manila, Tagaytay, Cebu, and Boracay.

The company operates several hotel brands including Richmonde Hotel, Belmont Hotel, Savoy Hotel, Hotel Lucky Chinatown, Twin Lakes Hotel, Kingsford Hotel Manila, Grand Westside Hotel, and properties managed with international partners like Marriott and Accor.

Megaworld plans to open six more hotels by 2030, which would bring their total to about 9,000 hotel rooms, making them the biggest hotel developer and operator in the Philippines.
