PLDT Inc., the biggest telecommunications company in the Philippines, has published its Annual and Sustainability Report for 2025 on May 21, 2026, according to a disclosure filed with the Philippine Stock Exchange.
What is PLDT?
Think of PLDT as the company that helps Filipinos make phone calls, send text messages, browse the internet, and connect with others through their phones and home WiFi. They’re listed on the Philippine Stock Exchange under the ticker symbol TEL and are one of the biggest companies in the country based on their market value.
What’s Special About This Report?
This year’s report carries the theme “Going Beyond the Signal.” But what does that mean? It’s not just about providing internet and phone signals anymore. PLDT is explaining how they’re using newer technologies like Artificial Intelligence (AI) and making sure their business helps people, the environment, and creates long-term value.
The report covers their financial performance (how much money they made and spent) and their ESG performance – which stands for Environmental, Social, and Governance. This means how they treat the planet, their employees, customers, and how they run the company responsibly.
What Did the Company Say?
Manuel V. Pangilinan, who is both the Chairman (the leader of the board of directors) and CEO (the top executive) of PLDT, explained that the company is transitioning from being just a telecommunications company to becoming a technology company. In simpler terms, they want to do more than just provide phone and internet services – they want to use advanced technology to offer better solutions.
Pangilinan emphasized that “going beyond the signal” means not just keeping up with modern times, but actually helping to shape the future. He mentioned that when PLDT invested in fiber optic cables and 5G networks, some people weren’t sure if it was a good idea, but these investments turned out to be successful.
How Did They Perform in 2025?
According to the report, PLDT continued improving their network quality, expanded their fiber internet services, and used AI technology to enhance customer experience, make their network work better, and help their employees do their jobs more effectively.
What About Sustainability?
PLDT achieved a score of 77 out of 100 in the 2025 S&P Global Corporate Sustainability Assessment, which is like a report card for how well companies manage environmental and social issues. They were also included in the S&P Global Sustainability Yearbook for both 2025 and 2026.
The company distributed PhP 141.1 billion in economic value to different groups connected to their business, including PhP 22.8 billion invested in their employees (like salaries, training, and benefits).
PLDT reported zero cases of child labor and forced labor in both their own operations and among their suppliers, showing their commitment to human rights.
For the environment, PLDT focused on making their network infrastructure stronger to handle climate changes and switching to renewable energy sources. They also created new policies on protecting biodiversity (plants and animals), managing energy, and taking care of water resources.
Melissa Vergel de Dios, PLDT’s Chief Sustainability Officer, explained that the company is now thinking beyond just speed, network coverage, and profits. They’re also considering whether they can create value without harming people and the environment.
