Filinvest Land, Inc. (PSE: FLI), a big company that builds shopping malls, condominiums, and communities across the Philippines, shared some good news about their shopping mall business. According to their official report filed with the Securities and Exchange Commission on May 25, 2026, their malls earned 17% more money from renting out store spaces compared to last year.
What Does This Mean in Simple Terms?
Think of Filinvest Land’s malls like a big building with many small stores inside. When stores want to use space in the mall, they pay rent to Filinvest Land – just like your parents might pay rent for an apartment. In the first three months of 2026 (January to March), Filinvest Land collected Php 744 million from these store rentals, which is 17% more than what they collected during the same time last year.
The company also reported that 80% of their mall spaces are now occupied. Imagine a mall with 10 store spaces – this means 8 of those spaces now have stores in them, while only 2 are still empty. The more stores they have, the more rent money they collect.
Which Mall Performed Really Well?
One of their star performers was Il Corso, a mall located in Cebu. This mall saw 33% more people walking through its doors after Filinvest Land made improvements to make it nicer and more attractive to shoppers. When more people visit a mall, stores do better business, which makes them happy to keep renting space there.
What the Company Leader Said
Tristan Las Marias, who is the President and CEO (the top boss) of Filinvest Land, explained that their mall business used to be just something extra on the side. But now, it has become one of their main ways of making money. He said their malls are becoming popular lifestyle destinations where people want to spend time, not just places to shop.
How Did This Help the Whole Company?
The growing mall business helped Filinvest Land earn a total revenue (total money coming in from all their businesses) of Php 6.31 billion for the first quarter of 2026. Their net income (profit after paying all expenses) was Php 1.10 billion during this period.
