Basic Energy Corporation Teams Up with Partners to Launch Electric Transport Solution Program

Basic Energy Corporation, which trades on the Philippine Stock Exchange under the ticker symbol “BSC,” has announced a new program together with several partner companies aimed at helping the country’s public transportation shift to electric vehicles.

According to the company’s announcement on April 10, 2026, the “Electric Transport Solution Program” was officially launched at the EcoOil EDSA Mandaluyong Service Station. The program is designed to create a complete system that will help modernize Philippine public transport using electric-powered vehicles instead of traditional fuel-powered ones.

What Does This Program Do?

Think of this program like a complete package deal for jeepney and bus drivers who want to switch from gasoline or diesel vehicles to electric ones. Instead of worrying about high fuel prices that keep going up and down, electric vehicles can help drivers save money and have more predictable costs.

BSC CEO Oscar “Carey” L. De Venecia Jr. explained during the launch event that the program is meant to help solve problems caused by changing fuel prices. He said the goal is to give transport operators – the people who run jeepneys, buses, and other public vehicles – a better way to run their businesses that won’t be affected as much when fuel prices suddenly increase.

Who Is Working Together on This?

Basic Energy Corporation is not doing this alone. The company is working with several other businesses including First Gen Corporation, AC Mobility, and Ecology Builders Development Corporation (EBDC). Each company brings different skills and services to help make the electric transport system work. Additionally, various transport cooperatives – groups of jeepney and bus drivers who work together – have committed to joining the program.

Government Support

The launch event was attended by important government officials who support the program. Senator Pia Cayetano and Department of Energy Secretary Sharon Garin were present, showing government backing for the initiative. Mayor Francis Zamora of San Juan, who also serves as President of the League of Cities of the Philippines, and Atty. Jay Layug, President of DREAM (Developers of Renewable Energy for AdvanceMent Inc), also provided their institutional support.

How Does This Fit with Government Plans?

The program aligns with the Electric Vehicle Industry Development Act (EVIDA), which is a Philippine law designed to encourage the use of electric vehicles in the country. By supporting this law’s goals, the program helps the government’s push toward cleaner and more sustainable transportation.
