LT Group, Inc. (LTG), a major company listed on the Philippine Stock Exchange, announced that it earned Php17.03 billion in the first half of 2026. This is 14% more than what they made during the same period in 2025 (Php14.97 billion). According to the company’s press release dated August 11, 2026, this marks their best first-half performance since their follow-on offering.
Understanding LT Group’s Business
Think of LT Group like a parent company that owns parts of several different businesses. Just like how a family might own a restaurant, a car wash, and a bakery, LT Group has investments in banks, tobacco companies, liquor makers, beverage producers, and real estate developers. Each of these businesses contributes money to the parent company.
Where the Money Came From
Here’s how each business contributed to LT Group’s total earnings:
- Philippine National Bank (PNB) – Contributed Php8.21 billion, which is 48% of the total (almost half!)
- Fortune Tobacco Corporation (FTC) – Added Php6.13 billion or 36%
- Tanduay Distillers – Brought in Php1.57 billion or 9%
- Asia Brewery (ABI) – Contributed Php377 million or 2%
- Eton Properties – Added Php290 million or 2%
- Victorias Milling Company – Contributed Php295 million or 2%
- Others – Added Php156 million or 1%
Sharing Profits with Stockholders
LT Group declared total dividends of Php6.49 billion for its shareholders by the end of June 2026. Dividends are like sharing the profits with people who own parts of the company. Each shareholder received Php0.60 per share, which included regular dividends of Php0.15 per share plus special dividends of Php0.45 per share. This represents a payout rate of 21% of their earnings.
Company’s Financial Health
As of June 30, 2026, LT Group’s debt-to-equity ratio was 2.97:1 when including the bank, and 0.09:1 without the bank. This ratio helps measure how much money a company owes compared to what it owns. The parent company had cash of Php2.20 billion on hand.
Philippine National Bank Performance
PNB, the banking segment, earned Php14.61 billion in the first half of 2026, which is 17% higher than the Php12.52 billion they made in the same period of 2025.
The bank made money primarily from:
- Interest income – Php35.14 billion from loans given to customers
- Net interest income – Php27.61 billion (after paying interest to depositors), up 7% from last year
- Service fees – Php3.06 billion from bancassurance, trade services, and trust banking, up 9%
- Other income – Php4.13 billion, mostly from selling ROPA (real and other properties acquired)
The bank’s expenses increased slightly to Php16.24 billion, mainly for employee salaries, equipment, and building costs. However, they had a net reversal of impairment losses of Php831 million, meaning their loan portfolio performed better than expected.
Fortune Tobacco Corporation
FTC, which is involved in the tobacco business, reported net income of Php6.16 billion for the first half of 2026, up 13% from Php5.46 billion in 2025. This growth came mainly from PMFTC, a company in which FTC owns 49.6%.
The tobacco industry sold 22.5 billion cigarette sticks in the first half of 2026, up 2% from last year. PMFTC’s sales also increased by 2% to 11.0 billion sticks.
In March 2026, PMFTC raised cigarette prices to comply with Republic Act 11346, which requires a 5% annual tax increase. The excise tax reached Php69.46 per 20-stick pack. Current retail prices are: Marlboro Red Titanium Edition at Php11 per stick, Marlboro Red at Php10, Marlboro Crafted and Fortune at Php9, and Chesterfield at Php8.
According to the company, government efforts against illegal cigarettes have been successful, with lower illicit trade due to better enforcement and seizures at ports.
Tanduay Distillers Performance
Tanduay, the liquor business, posted net income of Php1.58 billion for the first half of 2026, 16% higher than Php1.36 billion in the same period last year. This happened because they sold more products and increased their prices.
Total revenues reached Php16.68 billion, up 9% from Php15.25 billion in 2025. However, costs also went up to Php13.61 billion due to higher excise taxes, raw materials, and freight expenses. Despite this, their profit margin improved from 17% to 18%.
Tanduay maintained its strong position in Visayas and Mindanao with market shares of 74.4% and 82.4% respectively. Nationwide, Tanduay’s market share increased to 40.8% from 39.2% in 2025.
Asia Brewery Performance
Asia Brewery, which makes beverages, earned Php378 million in the first half of 2026, lower than the Php491 million from the same period last year.
Their revenues reached Php9.02 billion, up 2% from last year, driven by better sales of Energy Drinks and Bottled Water. However, production costs increased by 7% to Php7.04 billion, particularly for glass bottles and distributor support. This caused their profit margin to drop from 25% to 22%.
Operating expenses decreased to Php1.41 billion from Php1.50 billion due to lower advertising and professional fees.
Cobra energy drink held second place with a 43% market share in the first half of 2026. Combined, Absolute and Summit water brands captured 18% of the market, making them the third-largest local water brand.
Eton Properties Performance
Eton, the real estate arm, reported net income of Php291 million for the first half of 2026, lower than Php352 million in 2025. The company explained that 2025 had included one-time gains that didn’t repeat this year.
Leasing revenues (income from renting out properties) increased 4% to Php949 million and represented 80% of total revenues. Real estate sales grew 12% to Php238 million from various projects.
As of June 2026, Eton’s leasing portfolio covers 260,000 square meters: office space makes up 189,100 square meters (73%), commercial space accounts for 61,000 square meters, and residential space covers 9,900 square meters.
