Megawide Announces Php0.145 Per Share Cash Dividend for Common Shareholders

Megawide Construction Corp., a major construction and infrastructure company in the Philippines, announced on June 23, 2026 that it will give cash dividends (a share of profits) to its common shareholders. Each share will receive Php0.145.

Understanding the Dividend Payment Schedule

Think of dividends like getting a small reward for owning a piece of the company. Here’s how and when shareholders will get their money:

  • Record date: July 23, 2026 – You must be listed as a shareholder on this date to receive the dividend
  • Ex-date: July 22, 2026 – If you buy shares on or after this date, you won’t get this dividend payment
  • Payment date: August 7, 2026 – This is when the money will actually be sent to shareholders

The Company’s “3-D Strategy”

According to Edgar Saavedra, Megawide’s Chairman and CEO, the company has been following a “3-D strategy” for three years. This strategy focuses on three main goals:

  • Deliver: Complete projects successfully
  • De-lever: Reduce debt (money the company owes)
  • De-carbonize: Make operations more environmentally friendly

Saavedra explained that these three goals are designed to create more value for shareholders by building a more stable business, strengthening the company’s finances, and following environmental, social, and governance (ESG) standards.

Strong Financial Performance

Megawide has been showing improved financial results:

  • In 2025, the company earned Php669 million in net income, which was 24% higher than the year before
  • In the first quarter of 2026 (January to March), net income grew by 26% to Php266 million
  • The company is targeting Php1.2 billion in net income for the full year 2026

Reducing Debt for Better Financial Health

One of Megawide’s major achievements is paying down debt. As of March 2026, the company reduced its short-term debt (money that needs to be paid back soon) by around Php6.0 billion. This is like when someone pays off a big portion of their credit card balance.

This debt reduction improved the company’s bank net debt-to-equity ratio from 1.1x at the end of December 2025 to 0.8x by March 2026. A lower number means the company has less debt compared to what it owns, which is healthier.

By reducing debt, Megawide expects to save around Php250-300 million in interest costs (the extra money you pay when you borrow) for the year. Saavedra noted that the company plans to reduce debt even more throughout 2026.

Healthy Project Pipeline

Megawide has plenty of work lined up. As of end-March 2026, the company has a construction order book (list of projects they’ve been hired to do) worth Php48.7 billion. These projects include:

  • Residential housing projects from its real estate subsidiary, PH1 World Developers, Inc.
  • Large private commercial, industrial, and infrastructure contracts
  • About 22,000 socialized housing units under the government’s expanded 4PH program (affordable housing for Filipinos)

The company is also developing several transportation projects, including the Baguio City Integrated Terminal, the South Luzon Integrated Terminal Exchange, and the Cavite Bus Rapid Transit System.
