Megawide Construction Corp., one of the Philippines’ major construction companies, has reported that its order book reached P50 billion by the end of 2025. An order book is basically a list of all the construction projects a company has been hired to build – think of it like a to-do list of building jobs that will keep the company busy and earning money for the next few years.
According to the company’s press release dated March 18, 2026, this P50 billion order book is 15% bigger than what they had the previous year. To put it simply, this means Megawide has enough construction work lined up to keep them busy for about 3 to 4 years.
What Types of Projects Make Up This Order Book?
Megawide’s construction projects are divided into different categories:
- Residential projects (homes and apartments): 35% of the total
- Office and commercial buildings: 28%
- Government housing projects (4PH): 23%
- Infrastructure (roads, airports, etc.): 15%
What is 4PH and Why Does It Matter?
A big part of Megawide’s new business comes from something called “4PH,” which stands for “Pambansang Pabahay Para sa Pilipino” – a government program aimed at building affordable homes for Filipino families who don’t have much money. This program makes up 23% of Megawide’s order book, which is a significant portion.
Edgar Saavedra, who is the Chairman and CEO (the top boss) of Megawide, explained that they want to build more than 100,000 affordable housing units over the next five to seven years through this program. This is important because it gives the company a steady stream of projects to work on.
What New Projects Did Megawide Get in 2025?
Last year, Megawide signed contracts worth P23.4 billion for new projects. Almost half of this amount (P10.7 billion) came from three 4PH housing projects called Avesta, JAB, and Jenara Residences, all located in Cavite province.
Other major projects included:
- Two developments for Megaworld called Uptown Modern and One Portwood, worth P11 billion
- A new passenger terminal building at Caticlan Airport (the airport people use to get to Boracay), worth P1.6 billion
- Solar power plants in Bataan and Batangas, worth P270 million
How Does Megawide Build These Homes?
Megawide uses special technology called “precast” to build homes faster. Instead of building everything on-site from scratch, they make building parts (like walls and floors) in a factory, then bring these ready-made pieces to the construction site to put together – similar to building with large LEGO blocks. This method is faster and more efficient than traditional construction.
The company plans to build a new factory next year to make more of these precast building parts, which will help them complete all the housing projects they’ve committed to.
Financial Updates
Megawide also announced in the press release that they will redeem (pay back) their P1.5 billion Series 5 Preferred Shares on April 17, 2026. Saavedra explained that this is part of their financial management plan. The company has seen improvements in reducing its debt levels in the first quarter of 2026, and paying back these shares will free up more money that they can potentially share with stockholders in the future.
