Puregold Price Club, Inc. (stock symbol: PGOLD) shared its financial results for the first three months of 2026, showing strong growth in both sales and earnings, according to a regulatory filing submitted to the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) on May 7, 2026.
What Did Puregold Earn?
Think of a lemonade stand: if you sell more lemonade and keep more money after paying for lemons and sugar, you’re doing well. That’s essentially what happened with Puregold in early 2026.
The company earned a net income (the money left after paying all expenses) of ₱3.26 billion for the first quarter of 2026. This represents a 23.7% increase compared to the ₱2.64 billion they earned during the same period in 2025.
How Much Did They Sell?
Puregold’s total sales reached ₱58.78 billion in the first three months of 2026, which is 12.1% higher than the ₱52.42 billion they sold during the same period last year. That’s an increase of ₱6.36 billion.
The company explained that their existing stores also performed better. Their Puregold stores saw a 5.4% increase in same-store sales (meaning stores that were already open, not new ones), mainly because customers bought more items per visit. Meanwhile, their S&R Warehouse clubs saw an even bigger jump of 12%, driven by more customers visiting the stores.
Understanding the Profit Margins
Let’s break down how Puregold makes money in simple terms:
- Gross Profit: After buying products to sell (which cost ₱46.98 billion), Puregold had ₱11.8 billion left over. This is called gross profit, and it increased by 15.1% compared to last year. Their gross profit margin improved to 20.1% from 19.6% the previous year.
- Operating Expenses: Running stores costs money (rent, electricity, salaries, etc.). These expenses totaled ₱8.01 billion, up 11.4% from the previous year.
- Operating Income: After paying operating expenses, Puregold had ₱4.77 billion left, representing a 20% increase from the ₱3.97 billion in the first quarter of 2025.
How Many Stores Does Puregold Have?
As of the end of March 2026, Puregold operates a total of 790 stores across the Philippines. This includes:
- 685 Puregold stores
- 33 S&R Membership Shopping Warehouses
- 72 S&R New York Style quick-service restaurants
