Security Bank Corporation, one of the big banks in the Philippines, announced on June 8, 2026 that there will be a change in leadership for one of its important business divisions.
What’s Happening?
John Cary Ong, who was the head of Security Bank’s Wholesale Banking Segment, has decided to leave his position. Think of the Wholesale Banking Segment as the part of the bank that takes care of big businesses, corporations, and large institutional clients – not the regular people who walk into bank branches.
Victor Lee, who is the President and CEO (Chief Executive Officer – the top boss) of Security Bank, thanked Mr. Ong for his work and wished him well in whatever he does next.
Who Will Take Over?
For now, Victor Lee himself will oversee this division while the bank figures out the next permanent leader. He won’t be doing it alone though. He’ll work closely with a team of experienced banking leaders:
- Hirofumi Umeno – Head of Alliance Segment
- Yvonne Marcelo – Head of Corporate Banking
- Jorge Lindley Ong – Head of Commercial Banking
- Virgilio Chua – President and CEO of Security Bank Capital
According to the bank, this team of leaders will make sure that everything continues to run smoothly during this transition period.
Why Is Wholesale Banking Important?
Victor Lee explained that wholesale banking is a “key growth engine” for Security Bank. This means it’s one of the main parts of the bank that helps it grow and make money. The bank plans to continue strengthening this business area with help from its partner, MUFG Bank from Japan.
