SM Prime Holdings, Inc. (PSE: SMPH), one of the Philippines’ biggest mall and property developers, just announced the opening of a brand new entertainment arena in Cebu. Think of it like a giant indoor stadium where thousands of people can watch concerts, sports events, and shows.
According to the company’s disclosure filed with the Securities and Exchange Commission on July 9, 2026, SM Prime officially introduced the SM Seaside Cebu Arena to business partners and industry guests.
How Big Is This Arena?
The arena is huge. Here are some quick facts:
- Cost to build: P7 billion (that’s 7,000 million pesos!)
- Size: More than 7 hectares of floor space (imagine about 10 football fields)
- Capacity: Can fit up to 25,000 people at once
- Location: Inside the South Road Properties area in Cebu, connected to SM Seaside City Cebu mall
What Makes It Special?
According to Jeffrey C. Lim, SM Prime’s president, this arena brings “world-class” entertainment to the Visayas region. It was designed by Arquitectonica, a famous international architecture firm.
The building has a special look with wave-shaped glass windows that match the design of SM Mall of Asia Arena in Manila. Inside, there’s Cebu’s largest and most advanced giant screen hanging in the center, which will show crystal-clear videos and provide great sound during events.
Luxury Boxes for VIP Guests
The arena also has 30 special “Premier Suites” – these are like private luxury rooms where 13 to 31 guests can watch events together. Each suite has fancy seats, private bathrooms, and perfect views of the stage or playing area. People who rent these suites also get access to special VIP lounges, a café, and their own private entrance.
What Events Will Be Held There?
The arena will host its first major event on July 11, 2026, with the BINI Signals World Tour concert. Other shows already scheduled include performances by IV of Spades, TJ Monterde and KZ Tandingan, Hillsong Worship, and LANY.
The venue is designed to handle many different types of events including concerts, sports competitions, electronic dance music shows, family entertainment, corporate events, circus shows, and even motorsports.
Why Cebu?
Lim explained that this arena is part of SM Prime’s long-term plan for Cebu. The goal is to give tourists more reasons to visit and stay longer in the city, while also creating business opportunities for local entrepreneurs and nearby communities.
The arena connects directly to SM Seaside City Cebu mall and will soon be near an SMX Convention Center and two hotels (Park Inn by Radisson and Radisson Hotel), creating what the company calls “a comprehensive lifestyle, tourism and business district.”
