The Social Security System (SSS) has decided to buy more shares in Century Properties Group Inc. (PSE: CPG), according to a disclosure filed with the Securities and Exchange Commission on August 5, 2026.
What Happened?
SSS increased its ownership in Century Properties Group from about 6.4% to approximately 9.9%. This means SSS now owns a bigger piece of the company than before. To understand this better, imagine if you owned 6 out of 100 candies in a jar – now you own almost 10 out of 100 candies instead.
This isn’t the first time SSS invested in the company. They first bought shares back in July 2025 when they purchased 740,740,741 common shares.
Why Did SSS Invest More Money?
According to the press release issued by Century Properties Group, SSS’s decision to buy more shares shows they believe in:
- The company’s fundamentals (how strong and healthy the business is)
- How the company is managed (governance)
- The company’s growth plans
- The dividends the company pays to shareholders (dividends are like rewards given to people who own shares)
What Does Century Properties Group Do?
Century Properties Group has what they call a “Twin Engine Strategy.” This means they work on two different types of housing projects:
- PHirst – affordable homes for people buying their first house
- CPG premium residential – more expensive, high-end homes
What Did Company Leaders Say?
Marco Antonio, who is the President and CEO (Chief Executive Officer – the top boss) of Century Properties Group, said he was “deeply honored” by SSS’s trust in the company. He explained that they focus on selling homes to people who will actually live in them (end-users), which helps the company pay steady dividends to shareholders while keeping their debt at moderate levels.
Rodel V. Marqueses, the Chief Financial Officer (the person in charge of the company’s money), called SSS’s investment “a clear endorsement” of how well the company is run and its ability to give returns to shareholders.
How Was The Transaction Done?
The shares were bought through a “block sale” on the Philippine Stock Exchange, which is the official marketplace where company shares are bought and sold in the Philippines. The transaction followed all the required rules and regulations.
