Megawide Construction Corp., a major construction and infrastructure company in the Philippines, has reported that it earned Php532 million in profits during the first six months of 2026. This is 22% more compared to what they earned during the same period last year.
To put this in simpler terms: imagine if you saved Php100 last year, and this year you saved Php122 in the same amount of time – that’s how much better Megawide did this year!
What makes this even more impressive is that this half-year profit already represents 80% of what the company earned in the entire year of 2025. This means they’re on track for a strong year.
What the Company’s Leader Said
Edgar Saavedra, who is Megawide’s Chairman and CEO (the top boss), explained that their performance matches their plans for the year. He mentioned that the company started some new initiatives last year that are now paying off, and they expect even more construction work and projects to happen later in 2026, especially with their expanded 4PH portfolio.
The 4PH program refers to the government’s housing project called “Pambansang Pabahay para sa Pilipino Housing Program,” which aims to build homes for Filipino families.
How Much Money Did They Make?
Megawide’s total revenues (the money they made from all their businesses) were Php8.70 billion in the first half of 2026, which is almost the same as the Php8.60 billion they made during the same period last year.
Here’s where their money came from:
- Construction work: Php6.63 billion – this is still their biggest money-maker
- Real estate (selling properties): Php1.79 billion – this went up by 67% compared to last year through their company called PH1 World Developers, Inc.
- Landport operations (the bus terminal): Php278 million – this increased by 28%, coming from the Parañaque Integrated Terminal Exchange
Challenges They Faced
According to the press release, the company’s gross profit was Php2.17 billion and operating profit was Php1.28 billion. However, these numbers were affected by a war in the Middle East that started in February 2026. This war made it more expensive to transport materials and increased their operating costs.
Think of it like this: if you normally buy school supplies for Php100, but suddenly they cost Php120 because the delivery truck has to take a longer route, that’s similar to what happened to Megawide’s costs.
The good news is that the company was able to reduce how much they pay in finance costs (money paid to borrow money) by Php200 million, which helped balance things out. Their pre-tax profit ended up at Php601 million.
Recent Project Milestones
Megawide recently completed an important construction milestone called “topping off” for Tower 1 of Avesta Residences in Imus, Cavite. This was their first 4PH project, and they finished this stage in just 10 months. “Topping off” means they’ve completed the building’s structural framework up to its highest point.
The company is also planning to reach another topping-off milestone before the end of August 2026 for a new 4PH development in Dasmariñas, Cavite.
Future Work Lined Up
As of the end of June 2026, Megawide has Php45.7 billion worth of construction projects already lined up. This is called their “order book” – basically a list of jobs they’ve been hired to do.
These projects include:
- Residential buildings where people will live
- Big commercial and industrial buildings for businesses
- Infrastructure projects (like roads, bridges, and public buildings)
- Socialized housing under the government’s expanded 4PH program
