Lawson Philippines Partners with ACEN RES to Use 100% Clean Energy for Its Stores

ACEN Corporation, a major renewable energy company in the Philippines owned by the Ayala group, has announced a new partnership with Lawson Philippines, the popular convenience store chain. According to a disclosure filed with the Securities and Exchange Commission on April 28, 2026, this partnership will help Lawson Philippines switch all its electricity use to 100% renewable energy.

What Is Renewable Energy?

Think of renewable energy like sunshine and wind – it never runs out, unlike coal or gas which will eventually be used up. Renewable energy is cleaner for the environment because it doesn’t create pollution that harms the air we breathe.

How Many Stores Are Involved?

The partnership will cover 25 Lawson convenience stores located in different parts of Metro Manila, Laguna, Cavite, and Bulacan. These stores will start making the switch to clean energy starting at the end of May 2026.

What Is ACEN RES?

ACEN RES is the part of ACEN Corporation that sells electricity directly to businesses. ACEN is one of the fastest-growing clean energy companies in the Asia Pacific region. The company currently has 7 gigawatts (GW) of renewable energy capacity – that’s enough to power millions of homes! ACEN operates mainly in the Philippines but also has projects in Australia, Vietnam, India, and Laos.

How Does This Partnership Work?

Lawson Philippines is using something called the Retail Aggregation Program (RAP). This is like a group buying system for electricity – instead of buying power alone, multiple businesses can team up and buy electricity together directly from suppliers like ACEN RES. This government program is designed to give businesses more choices about where they get their electricity and helps create competition in the energy market.

What Did the Companies Say?

Miguel de Jesus, Chief Operating Officer for Philippine Operations of ACEN, welcomed Lawson Philippines as a partner. He explained that when companies like Lawson choose renewable energy, it helps the Philippines reach its goal of using more clean energy across the country.

Yasuhiro Sato, President of Lawson Philippines, said this partnership will help reduce energy costs at their stores while also teaching Filipinos about taking care of the environment. He mentioned that Lawson plans to keep expanding its stores in the Philippines and will continue using renewable energy to reduce costs.

Lawson’s Environmental Goals

This switch to clean energy is part of Lawson, Inc.’s bigger plan to protect the environment. The company wants to cut its CO2 emissions (the harmful gases that contribute to climate change) by 50% per store by 2030 compared to 2013 levels. By 2050, they aim to reduce these emissions by 100%.

About ACEN Corporation

ACEN Corporation is listed on the Philippine Stock Exchange with the stock symbol ACEN. According to the disclosure, the company has 39,951,435,064 common shares outstanding, plus preferred shares. The company is headquartered at the 35th Floor, Ayala Triangle Gardens Tower 2, in Makati City.

ACEN focuses entirely on renewable energy generation and has committed to achieving Net Zero greenhouse gas emissions by 2050, meaning they want to remove as much pollution from the air as they create.
