Alternergy’s Tanay Wind Project Now Sending Electricity to Luzon Grid

Alternergy Holdings Corporation (PSE: ALTER) announced an important achievement on July 30, 2026. Their 128-megawatt Tanay Wind Project has started producing electricity and sending it to the Luzon power grid for the first time.

What Happened?

Think of this like building a giant toy that makes electricity from wind. Alternergy, through its subsidiary company called Alternergy Tanay Wind Corporation (ATWC), has finished building huge wind turbines (like super tall fans) that spin when the wind blows. These spinning turbines now make electricity that goes into the wires that power homes and businesses in Luzon.

Why Is This Special?

Back in July 2023, the government held a special contest called the Green Energy Auction Program II (GEAP II). Several companies competed to build wind projects. Alternergy won the right to build this Tanay Wind Project. Now, exactly three years later, they are the first among all the wind projects that won in that contest to actually deliver power to the grid. This shows that Alternergy can finish what they promise to build.

How Does the Power Get to Your Home?

The electricity from the wind turbines travels through a massive substation (a place where electricity is collected and organized) that covers 6 hectares – that’s about the size of six soccer fields! This substation connects to the National Grid Corporation of the Philippines’ (NGCP) 500 kV transmission lines, which are like superhighways for electricity that carry power all across Luzon.
