Ayala Corporation, one of the Philippines’ largest and oldest conglomerates, has shared its financial results for the first half of 2026, according to a press release filed with the Securities and Exchange Commission on August 13, 2026.
What Did Ayala Corporation Earn?
The company reported a core net income of P22.1 billion for the first six months of 2026. Core net income is the profit a company makes from its regular business operations, excluding one-time or unusual events. This amount is 7 percent lower compared to what the company earned during the same period last year.
When looking at the company’s total reported net income (which includes all one-time gains and losses), Ayala posted P22.9 billion—a smaller decline of just 2 percent from the previous year.
What’s Behind the Numbers?
Ayala Corporation operates like a big family of different businesses. Think of it as a parent company that owns shares in several other major companies. Here’s what happened with some of these businesses:
- The Good News: Some businesses did better this year. Globe Telecom, Inc. (the telecommunications company) and AC Energy and Infrastructure Corporation (which handles power and infrastructure) both grew their earnings. Bank of the Philippine Islands (BPI) maintained stable performance, and newer or smaller businesses under Ayala also showed improved combined results.
- The Challenges: Ayala Land Inc. (the real estate arm) contributed less compared to last year. Additionally, the company received less income from investments and dividends.
Why Did Investment Income Go Down?
According to the disclosure, two main reasons explain the lower non-operating income:
- Manila Water Company fully paid back the first batch of preferred shares that Ayala had sold, which means Ayala no longer receives dividends from those shares.
- Ayala’s ownership stake in Mynt (a digital financial services company) was reduced after Mitsubishi Corporation invested in AM 50 Ventures Inc. in 2025.
